A Message from the Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Commander (SCC) Sue E. Lampert RNR

Image

I should like to welcome you to Training Ship Ross, where I hope your stay will be a long and happy one.

The crest you see at the top of this page is that of The Sea Cadet Corps, which was founded as long ago as 1856 in a Methodist Sunday School in Whitstable, Kent - The Sea Cadet Corps is the oldest and best youth organisation in the world.

T.S. Ross was founded in Ross-on-Wye at The Ryefields Centre in March 1999.

In T.S. Ross you will find friendship, camaraderie and a tremendous team spirit. You will be expected to be smart and keep smart. There is a certain amount of discipline, without which, we would be just another youth club. There is plenty of willing help available if you have problems of any sort.

You have a right to expect to be involved in all the activities available to you and I expect you to take part in our activities wholeheartedly. It may seem "old fashioned" to say, but - "You only get out of Sea Cadets what you put in".
